“Six days later, Jesus took Peter, Jacob and his brother John with him and he led them to a high mountain. And he was transfigured in front of them, his face shone like the sun and his clothes became as white as the light.” (Mt 17, 1-2)
In these special days all of us are invited to climb Mount Tabor to admire the splendour of the Lord’s Transfiguration, to reinforce our faith by taking part in the mystery of the Transfiguration of Jesus, to rejoice in the contemplation of the pre-figuration of the Kingdom of Heaven.
And, as the chosen disciples, we too must also turn to the world to the daily existence, to the everyday tasks… not without feeling deep in our soul a profound change, that new energy, that propulsive force that can only come from the light of the renewed faith.
Ourselves transfigured in the illuminated glory of Christ and guided by his light in the streets of life we are called to carry to Good News to the world…
Of course, this is not an easy task… but a concrete life model exists to learn from: that of the Don Bosco missionaries, sons of a dreamer that walked with his feet on the ground and his heart in the heavens.
With their message of forgiveness, they bring peace and charity among men, transforming hate into love and, strengthened by the Gospel message, they become the night lantern that shines on the uncertain steps of those who have lost the way.
We too, as them, can transfigure the world with a new light of love, a light made of our small concrete gestures of help, or small prayers, our capacity to forgive and see dawn break of a new day: the day of peace.
