Sacred Heart of Jesus

God loves us with man’s heart

The Holy Church has established that the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be celebrated on the Friday after the celebration of Corpus Christi, to honour the pierced Heart, symbol of the great Love of God for man.
Love is, therefore, the essential core of meaning for the wondrous symbol of the Sacred Heart, the “divine Heart” so consumed with Love for men that it spreads the flames of its burning lovingness into their souls.
It is this Love that burns in the hearts of the Salesian fathers who depart for the lands of mission to bring care, affection, comfort, dedication and hope and to walk alongside their poorer and needier brothers.
This is the Love that gives courage and energy to the Don Bosco Fathers for their missions in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Oceania, the love that motivates them and gives them strength, preparing them to share with others their aspirations for growth, development, sharing and evangelisation, and enabling them to leave the traces of peace and hope, and their willing to offer their lives for other, in faraway and needy lands.
As a perfect synthesis of the entire Gospel, the Sacred Heart of Christ must be spread throughout the world and loved, because only in It will man find not only new vital impulses, to give a new friendly hand, a new smiling face and support that doesn’t abandon them in times of pain and desperation, but also, and above all, the beginnings of a civilization founded on Love and able to give full dignity to the human person created in the image and likeness of God.
