"He who educates a woman educates a people"… says an ancient African proverb that is well known to the Sisters of Don Bosco in Namaacha, who have always welcomed and educated marginalised native girls and young women aged 11 - 18 years. In order to continue their studies after primary school, these girls leave their villages and seek accommodation in unhealthy shanties located near the city of Naamacha. Unfortunately, in these degraded sites, they often fall prey to criminals and exploiters who bully them violently and even reduce them to slavery. The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, who will not tolerate the idea of abandoning their girls to this fate, have decided to find a way of protecting them by offering accommodation and education to hundreds of poor little girls and young women who wish to continue their school education. The Salesian sisters need € 23,000 to build a home - a safe healthy place where they can yearly host 150 girls to remove them from a fate of misery and underdevelopment. Your cooperation and commitment are necessary to start renovation works on the Naamacha Centre's premises.
